Storymapping & Geospatial Analysis for Environmental Policy Advocacy

I've created multiple interactive, intricate Storymaps for use in advocacy and policy-making settings, as well as ones oriented towards communities and families. These lace-based narratives center the frontline activists in biomass-impacted communities in the South, from Adel, GA, to Hamlet, NC, tackling the overlapping exposures and challenges residents courageously resist. My work with Bridgett McCoy, J.D.  published in the Columbia Human Rights Law Review,  helps quantify and visualize experiences of environmental injustice and its impact on freedom to protest in Cancer Alley, LA.

In collaboration with frontline leaders, I pitched and executed the concept of campaign using 'postcards from polluted places' to mobilize communities against biomass plants, supported by several blog installations and infographics.

Environmental Justice & Water Crisis Deep-Dives

As the media hits manager and Chief Investigative Reporter for EOPA and our in-house news magazine, Protect Earth News, I wrote press releases on rapid-response issues, planned and facilitated press conferences, interviewed elected officials, and produced deep-dives on critical topics including environmental injustice and how climate's impact on water drives national security concerns.

Enterprise & Opinion Pieces in

The Bowdoin Orient

My contributions to the Orient, both as columnist, member of the editorial board, and enterprise reporter of course covered climate and environmental issues, but also span from coverage of the arts and local performances to fair wage organizing to the opioid crisis' impact on the Downeast Maine communities.
